The NEW Sanibel Elliptical is the industry's first elliptical core trainer. Yowza's patented counter-rotational Core motion targets the muscles of internal and external obliques, rectus abdominus and serratus anterior like no other cardio machine. In layman's terms, this machine will do more to develop your abdominal muscles than any crosstrainer on the market.

The Sanibel has a silky-smooth 21" roller-less stride and is equipped with our Sure-FitTM self-pivoting foot pedals for maximum comfort. The two-tiered, ergonomic console features an iPod dock, speakers, 3-speed fan and built-in grip pulse.

**** Updated 8/17/2012 ****If you have shopped for an elliptical machine recently, you know how frustrating it can be to find honest reviews. Even Amazon is peppered with fake (positive) reviews for many products. During my research on elliptical machines, I found 99% of the websites to be "fake" sites created by the parent companies that make the various brands treadmills and elliptical machines. I went eight pages deep into various Google searches and only found two sites that had honest reviews. This little trick is despicable and should be illegal. That being said, I am here to give a very honest review of the Yowza Sanibel, and I'll try to keep it updated as I progress.I ordered the machine directly from Yowza. The delivery company picked it up on 6/25/2012. Strangely enough, it was picked up from the Dick's Sporting Goods warehouse, despite the fact that Yowza machines no longer appear on Dick's website. I did not receive the machine until 7/9/2012. Why it sat for a week, I do not know. When the box arrived, it had a large hole in it, but the machine had not been damaged. It took me just under three hours to assemble working by myself. I would recommend an assistant. When I had completed my assembly I tested the machine, only to hear a rather loud knocking noise. I discovered that the noise was coming from a joint that had explicit instructions to "not over-tighten", so I hadn't tightened it enough. Five minutes with a screwdriver and an Allen wrench eliminated that knock.7/09/2012: I decided to start out slowly, so I began with a 16 minute fat burning program. Towards the end of the program I began to hear another knock, but at the end of the program I was too tired to hunt for it.7/11/2011: I just completed my second workout, after which I was forced to spend two and half hours tearing the machine apart, to locate the source of another knocking noise, since it was driving me crazy. You can view the photos I uploaded to see the source of the knocking noise. This knock was due to the design of the machine, and was coming from inside factory assembled parts. Part of the gearing for the right hand grip was impacting the lower half of the plastic display panel. It was a tedious process getting at this area, made even worse by a screw hole that was stripped at the factory, which prevented me from removing one critical screw.Since the part of the gear that was impacting the console is made of hard plastic, I rounded down the offending corner of the gear until it had enough clearance to prevent it from impacting the console. The left hand gear was also VERY close to the console and was not knocking, but I also filed that edge down for good measure.Yowza claims that the Sanibel has been redesigned for 2012, but I think someone goofed when they engineered those two parts.OK, enough complaining... How is the workout you ask? Well, I've only done two 16 minute workouts, but I'd say pretty good. When I first tested the machine I thought I'd be in trouble, as the resistance didn't appear to be significant, but it is.The foot beds are cushioned and I can workout barefoot without any pain. The fan actually works well, at least on high speed. This is the only elliptical I've tried that has an effective fan.The proprietary iPod dock is a joke. I will never own an Apple product, and there are thousands of others who have "regular" MP3 devices, be they Android phones or standard MP3 players. The input should be a simple headphone jack. Now I'm forced to purchase an expensive, and not well reviewed, adapter for my phone.Others have complained about the controls (and yes, you do have to cycle though your height, age, and weight EVERY SINGLE TIME you start a workout, which is ridiculous), but you get used to those steps and the controls become second nature fairly quickly. The "handlebars" do cross your line-of-sight to the display, but they do not impact your ability to read the display. The system automatically sees the Polar chest strap if you choose to use it, otherwise you are forced to release your grip on the main bars and grab the bars that measure your heart rate, which can be tricky. I am looking forward to trying the programs that attempt to keep your target heart rate within a certain zone during the workout.I'm still getting used to the "handlebars", and I'll need to get in better shape before I try to make use of the upper body workout.I'll keep you updated as I progress and the machine gets older.***** UPDATE 8/17/2012 *****Workout: I've been using the target heart rate workout, and it is pretty intense. I works you up to your target heart rate quickly, and attempts to keep it stable. One day I had taken a Claritin, which always increases my blood pressure and pulse, and I decided to workout. My target heart rate is 148. During the workout my heart rate reached 154, and all of my attempts to reduce it with with breathing techniques failed. After about two minutes at 154 BBM, the machine ended the workout completely. Must be a safety feature.Reliability: Another knock developed. This time it was coming from a factory joint on the right side of the machine. The small link that joins the foot pedal to the long tube running down from the handlebar. The foot pedal end of the link is a solid, cylindrical piece of steel that slides into a plastic bushing and is held in by a circlip. When I disassembled the part, I found that the joint contained very little lubrication, and the plastic bushing was beginning to deteriorate due to the friction. There was actually plastic stuck to the steel, so I imagine the joint was getting quite warm.I loaded it up with grease and reassembled the joint.I decided to grease the same joint on the left side of the machine and found a LOT of play in that joint, so the plastic bushing is WAY out of tolerance already. The knock has disappeared for the time being, but I suspect I may be ordering replacement plastic bushings in the future.***** UPDATE 9/7/2012 *****Reliability: The plastic bushings I mentioned in the 8/17/2012 update wore out of tolerance on both sides. What a terrible idea to put a plasticbushing under that kind of load. The result was a loud, dull knock coming from both sides of the machine as the metal rod moved aroundin the joint. They used roller bearings on almost every other joint on the machine, but pulled a cost saving move in this location. For $5.00 I obtained some PTFE/Oil impregnated Bronze Sleeve Bearings (to be safe I also greased the joints). They are basically the exact same part as the plastic bushings, but made out of Bronze, and they work great. Yowza should have used Brass in the first place.Workout: My wife started using the machine and she really likes it. I'm six feet tall and she's 5'5", and the machine fits both of us just fine. We've made our way up to a thirty minute workout. I let the machine adjust the intensity using the target heart rate program, and my wife manually adjusts the intensity via the keypad. We both come away sweating in the end. It's a heck of a workout.Hopefully the next update won't have a section about knocking noises.

1Fraud
By Laura
This product came as scheduled, but the professional installation did not. I am unable to rate how it works because it is in a box in our living room. The worker scheduled to install it did not put it together at the time installed, called after it was delivered to reschedule. I had already taken a day off of work to get the treadmill and could not afford another day off, so I cancelled installation. I have called yawza fitness three times, made a trouble ticket, and talked to several representatives, nobody can offer a refund for installation they did not provide. They have charged me for a service they have not provided but refuse a refund, this company is fraudulent and I would not give them my business.

4DISPLAY CONSOLE BAD SOFTWARE
By steve
I have had my sanibel 5 months now almost 6. I do like the workout that it gives you though I did adjust the mag brake to give more resistance for a harder workout. If you are interested in adding more resistance all you need to do is remove the right hand side cover from the back of the machine. You will see the mag brake assembly there is a plastic collar on the arm that drives the magnet over the disc and is secured by a single screw.Use some white out or a sharpie marker to mark the position of the plastic collar on the arm. Put the mark on the arm at the forward end of the plastic collar so you have a referance point when you make an adjustment. If you slide the collar aft away from the disc it will increase the resistane. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MOVE IT MUCH 1/8 OF AN INCH WILL INCREASE RESISTANCE ALOT JUST REMEBER TO MARK IT FOR REFERANCE BEFORE YOU MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT AND DON'T OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREW THAT HOLDS THE COLLAR IN PLACE. this will give you an excellent work out with the added resistance at level 16 for those that are looking for that extra.Ok the pros It is a good machine great work out I use it 4-5 times a week with ethier 45 min or 60 min workout depending on how much time I have so I do use it a lot at the higher resistance levels mostly 10 min at level 16 then 1 min 15 then back to level 16 for 10 min. So I do put the machine through its paces.Cons I recieved my first Sanibel and went through 3 display consoles. The numbers were unreadable on the console so you could see RPM'S HEART RATE CALORIES BURNED very annoing but the machine still worked. After the third console new wirring haness, speed sensor, mag brake assy.( this is how I know to add resistance) and assurance that my Sanibel was the only one with this problem they replaced it with a new Sanibel. Well I assembled the new one packed the old one up to send back no cost to me just my time and labor First workout same prblem with the console numbers unreadable but the machine still worked. They sent me another replacement console Bame same problem. Finally after they trouble shot the Sanibel that I returned it turned out to be a software problem. So after almost 5 months and 2 machines and numerous parts they sent me a new console display with the updated software I have been using for a month now and it works great.I also had the same knocking as described in other reviews and it was as simple as tightening thr joint that says do not over tighten. After going through all that I will say that now it is fixed I am very happy with though for the money I paid I should not have had to go through all those problems. But yes for the work out it gives, quiet and smooth as compared to my old one the differance is night and day. I do like it
