By ILikeAmazon
This is an expensive purchase. Before you plunk down money I thought, since I've done some research, that I'd give you some insights. There are a number of "9500" series of Life Fitness equipment. To make it more complicated, the 9500 Elliptical comes in a number of varieties. The "rear drive" unit comes with different panel instrumentation (the newer versions offering more options and "zone" training). So, if you buy one of these units (and they'll all be used/refurbished at this point), you need to be *very* careful as to precisely what you're getting.Regarding the 9500 rear drive (Model: "CT-9500HR") version, please be sure you get a good warranty of some kind. This unit was known for having two maintenance problems in high-use/gym settings: 1) rear drive / bearing failure; 2) Heart Rate grip handles become loose and stop working. Life Fitness has tried to address this issue through 9500 updates (which is why a later 9500 series unit might be a better bet). Key is to make sure your warranty covers both areas. A bearing failure could cost you $500 to repair. I suggest a comprehensive 12 month warranty, which won't be cheap, unfortunately. That said, this is BY FAR my favorite elliptical unit. I'm 5'8" and it has a perfect stride length (approx 18") [Taller people (6'+) might prefer a bigger / adjustable unit]. The unit is relatively quiet, convenient, and has for me a perfect stride in both directions (the unit has a great reverse mode). It doesn't require a plug so is very portable. It's easy to read or watch TV while using this machine.Hope this has been helpful.

By DON'T buy from Fit Co
DON'T buy from Fit CoI received the product late. When the Elliptical arrived it was damaged. The handles were painted and wrapped in plastic before the paint dried which cause a hideous looking handle. The generator was damaged which caused a high pitch noise.I sent pictures of the handles and a video of the noise. I was told that the high pitch noise was the way it sounds. I ask to have a tech look at it and they said they had someone in the area. Well, 2 weeks later no one came. I called a local place and they came and fix it. for $180. I was was told i would be reimbursed. 1 month later nothing from FIT Co. I emailed and called no response. It took nearly 3 months to get the product and have it working. I would never buy another product from FIT Co. I can add much more detail about the horrible service i received from FIT Co.Oh and i was told by the local repair man that the Life Fitness CT9500HR they are selling has parts from a different model in it. I just want to sell the thing I'm concerned it will break down.

This is a quality refurbished machine. It arrived in a substantial wooden packing crate and was unloaded by the shipping company. The machine was in very good cosmetic condition given it was refurbished. It all worked including the Polar heart monitor. There was some perceived play on the right hand arm unit. After a few weeks use black particles were starting to collect beneath this part of the machine. I de-assembled the bearing given the review on bearings I had read prior to purchase. There was no grease. I found the same with the remaining bearings. All the bearings were greased (not a difficult job) using lithium grease. That was 2 years ago; I have had no problems since. I am pleased with this purchase. I would not have been opted for a new machine. This is a high quality substantial machine which I doubt I will ever wear out.
