By P. James
I loved my elliptical for about 9 months. The frame is sturdy. The motion is smooth. the size is right for me (I'm 6'3"). It feels stable, and it had a variety of programs to help you out. The touch screen is coated, so you don't sweat it all up, and the weight load and duty load are impressive. I never used it less than an hour a day, five days a week, for 8 months. I often used it more.As for the bad:The speakers suck, so do bother unless you have no other choice, because they don't even get conversationally loud. This doesn't bother me too much. I didn't buy it for the speakers. There is next to no information online about what to do when you have problems, or some documentation for electronics (like how to chose users or even add them for the HRC feature). A tip, to change users for the HRC, press and hold the reset button. I haven't found a way to hard reset the electronics.Recently, my 8.0LC stopped working, and I'm not particularly thrilled with the service I have gotten so far. I have called 5 times and only gotten any kind of response once, and that was to take the elliptical apart and check harnesses/test things with a multimeter, something I can do, but I didn't pay what I paid to be troubleshooting this machine.Based on my personal experience with the most important part of a high end purchase, I can't recommend this awesome machine to anyone else (and I wont), no matter how much I love everything else.

By LasVegasgal
I paid $1,574 plus $200 for set up and delivery. The 2 men who delivered had NEVER set- up a Smooth Fitness before. The 2 men got into an argument and one left leaving one man and myself to put the elliptical together. Forget the 10 yr parts warranty and 2 yr labor warranty....they will NEVER return your calls...so their warranty is a joke. I have been trying for 3 weeks---emails, answer machine messages and 2 times talking to a live person. Yet Customer Service will not return your call. Finally I contacted BBB in PA. and filed a complaint...Not to my surprise Smooth Fitness had 32 complaints against them. ORDER YOUR MACHINE FROM ANOTHER COMPANY... THis company is dishonest and does not care about you after they have your $$. Still waiting on the $100.00 for referring another person which I was promised!

By Jennifer23
I received my elliptical in the time frame expected and put it together myself. This wasn't difficult, but took some time and strength and about 3 hours of my time. The flywheel is heavy, but there are screws at each junction of the foot pedals and arm pulls of which began to creek within the first couple of weeks of use. The display is full of blue lights and not as easy to navigate as the gym ellipticals I'm used to. The flywheel began thumping within the first week of use, but decreases each time the tension is raised during use. The foot pedals also cracked in the some spot on each side about a month later. I called customer service and recalled customer service for a month with empty promises and no follow-up. Each "technician" told me they would take care of me and assign a local contracted service team to take care of the cracks in my foot pedals and the thumping of the flywheel. To date, I've received no phone calls to service my elliptical. When I called most recently, the "customer service" employee was arguing with me about my phone call history and put me on hold. About 5 minutes later, the line went dead and my call was disconnected. I read all of the testimonials on the Smooth Fitness homepage before buying as well as the "Elliptical Doctor's" review and felt like I was making a good investment in a home elliptical. I tried to leave my own testimonial on the Smooth homepage, but couldn't access the page to do that. I have regretted buying this elliptical and will probably give it away or sell it cheaply and cut my losses. I will definitely put my money in a name brand next time.
